Spring Valley Roses is a mail-order nursery that specializes in winter hardy roses and plants for birds. We've been in business since 1990 and are located in Spring Valley, Wisconsin.

We started as a mail-order nursery, then added on-farm retail in 1995. The spring of 2006 was our last year for on-farm retail. Now, we're back to our original roots and are a mailorder-only nursery.  We're located in hardiness Zone 4.

At Spring Valley Roses, we offer high-quality plants all grown on their own roots that can survive in cold climates and can tolerate or show resistance to common diseases. For our roses, we use the American Nursery Standards to provide our customers with grade #1 plants. We also believe that roses are best on their own roots -- especially in northern climates. Own-root roses are more true to size for each variety and can survive severe winters better than budded roses.

Plants can be ordered online through our Web site from January through early May. Plants are shipped bareroot and dormant from early April to mid May.

We offer a variety of plants that are great for birds. These plants provide places for birds to rest, perch and hide from predators; nest and raise their young; and find shelter from the weather. We offer a good selection of some of the best shrubs available for birds. Most are native and can be grown in hardiness Zones 3-9.

Our nursery is home to beautiful plants and wonderful wildlife. We love to share pictures of what we see in our gardens. We hope you enjoy the postings on this blog.
